Mock Trial Champions 2017-CreekviewA team of students from Creekview High School in Carrollton took home the top prize at the Dallas Bar Association’s 38th Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on March 3-4.

It was the team’s second consecutive win and fourth championship in the past five years, according to a Dallas Bar Association press release.

More than 25 teams from high schools across the state competed in the event, where the students argued a hypothetical criminal case in front of judges and attorneys acting as jurors, who then selected the teams who were the most prepared and demonstrated “exceptional presentation skills.”

Skyline High School in Dallas came in second place and teams from Lubbock High School in Lubbock and One Day Academy in Austin were each semi-finalists, the release said.

The Creekview team will represent Texas in the 2017 National High School Mock Trial Championship on May 11-13 in Hartford, Connecticut.
