Often times injury lawyers make promises they can’t keep, at the cost of the client’s best interest. Many times, personal injury attorneys will talk clients into settling their claims for less than the true value owed the client simply because they don’t want to put in the time and effort to get the very most for their client. And when the cases aren’t resolved, these attorneys pass the cases off to other lawyers who are willing to do the work.

The attorneys at The Law Offices of Tim O’Hare are different. We don’t spend big bucks to advertise on TV or flashy billboards, which in turn lowers our overhead and protects the best interests of our clients. When we agree to take a case, we will see it through to the end.

From the beginning, we strive to be honest and upfront with our clients, fully disclosing the challenges they may face in the process. We won’t take on the case of anyone who says they have been injured. Instead, we work through a lengthy process to ensure we only take people we know we can help — we only take the cases we believe in. We work hard to maintain our integrity by refusing to make promises we can’t keep.

Insurance companies know the attorneys that are in it simply to profit off their clients’ pain and suffering — and they know the lawyers who act with integrity. And in the long run, it almost always works out for our clients. Insurance companies know we only take serious cases, and that we will do everything legal to ensure justice for our clients. The Law Offices of Tim O’Hare regularly receives referrals from other lawyers and even insurance companies. To us, there is no higher compliment.

In the event you need to hire a personal injury attorney, seek out a reputable attorney, don’t just settle for the first one who shows up in your Google search.

Here are a few tips to help you hire a reputable attorney:

Ask your friends, family and coworkers for a referral. Getting a reference from someone you trust is a great way to find a respectable attorney. Ask for suggestions on whom to call, and be sure to ask your friends about their personal experience with that attorney.

Check websites, track records and ask questions. If you visit an attorney’s website and find more of a sales pitch than substance, chances are they are not the type of attorney you are looking for. Keep your eyes out for professional websites that provide quality information.

A local law library can provide information on a specific attorney’s track record. This is also sometimes information you can find through online searches.

When you meet with an attorney for the first time, be prepared with specific questions. Find out how many cases similar to yours they have handled and the results of those cases. If you have selected a firm, find out which lawyer within that firm will be handling your case. Be sure to research the individual attorney, not just the firm as a whole.

Don’t assume all lawyers have a negative reputation just because some do. It is easy for lawyers, especially personal injury attorneys, to be stereotyped as “slimy.” While this may be true for some, it is not true for all. A personal injury attorney who has integrity will provide much needed help in what can be a very difficult situation. If you hire the right attorney, you won’t regret it. Don’t let your misconception of lawyers deter you from seeking legal representation in a situation involving wrongful death, car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle or pedestrian accidents, slips and falls, premises liability or a work injury.
