Parker County court system impacted by computer security incident

Parker County officials announced that on October 16 they discovered the county computer system had come under attack in an unspecified security incident. As officials attempted to stop the damage, sought to investigate, and seek repairs, the county’s court system was taken offline and all courts are closed at this time.

Parker County District Clerk Sharena Gilliland said she has not been told that the breech impacted any court files directly; however, the clerk’s office does not have access to its filing system or the state’s E-File system. Attorneys can still file through the E-File system, which will record the filing date and time, but the paperwork will show pending until clerks regain access. The District Clerk’s Office remains open and attorneys may appear in person to file via paper, Gilliland said.

She did not know exactly how long the outage may impact the courts. Attorneys with questions about district court processes may call 817-598-6114. Those with matters in the county courts at law may call 817-598-6138.
