The Houston Bar Association Lawyers for Literary Committee teamed with the Houston Independent School District Department of Library Services and Weekley Family YMCA to remodel Charles Shearn Elementary School’s library.

HBA President Benny Agosto Jr., HBA Lawyers for Literacy Chairs Alvin Adjei, Karan Ciotti, and Chanler Langham helped spearhead the initiative. Fundraising generated $30,000 from individuals and law firms, including $15,000 in matched donations by Nichole Agosto and Benny Agosto Jr.

The funds were used to provide a complete remodel of the library along with new books, furniture, and more.

“A love of reading and knowledge is the most important legacy we can leave our children,” Benny Agosto Jr. said in a press release. “Along with our Lawyers for Literacy Committee and our generous donors, we are honored to be able to contribute to that legacy for the children of Shearn Elementary School.”
