Free legal advice and services for Baytown residents

Originally published by Eric Quitugua.

The Houston Volunteer Lawyers will serve low-income Baytown residents with free legal consultations. Qualifying individuals will receive one-on-one legal advice and counsel by appointment over the phone and screening for continued legal representation.

Appointments take place Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. and every third Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Legal issues covered in the appointments include family law, consumer issues, wills and probate, property law, tax law, HIV/AIDS, and veterans benefits, as well as other civil legal problems.

Those interested in seeking consultation from the Houston Volunteer Lawyers can submit an application online at makejusticehappen.org or call 713-228-0735. Applicants are required to provide identification and proof of income. Some exceptions to residence and income requirements may apply to special groups such as veterans. Translators and other accommodation requests can be made by calling 713-228-0735 or emailing info@hvlp.org.

The consultations are made possible through grant funding from United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County.

For more information, go to makejusticehappen.org or call 713-228-0735.
