NBC News reports on its website that the Food and Drug Administration is investigating Zecuity, a “battery-powered patch that delivers migraine medication.” The patch “might be causing burns severe enough to leave permanent scars.” The device delivers sumatriptan “through the skin, using an electric current generated by the batteries.” In a statement, the FDA said that patients complaints “included descriptions of severe redness, pain, skin discoloration, blistering, and cracked skin.” Medscape and HCP Live also cover the story.
