Early voting for Texas for the 2021 uniform election starts today, Tuesday, October 19th, and ends on October 29th. To encourage participation in early voting, we have compiled a list of national voter initiatives intended to promote voter registration and participation.

Voto Latino is the nation’s “premier Latinx voter registration organization” and has been actively encouraging members of the Latino/a/e/x American community to participate in the democratic process for over 15 years.

#ReclaimYourVote is a social campaign and voting initiative created by BET and the National Urban League with the goal of encouraging Black Americans to register to vote.

Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) is a national nonpartisan organization that encourages civic and electoral engagement in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

Native American Voting Rights, a project of the Native American Rights Fund, encourages voter participation by Native Americans.

Yalla Vote is a “voter mobilization” campaign serving Arab and Middle Eastern Americans for over two decades created by the Arab American Institute. The Yalla Vote Arabic/English Election Protection Hotline is one of the main features of this program.

There are many voting initiatives that serve the LGBTQ community. Queer the Vote and Queer the Census are two initiatives that were created in 2020. Equality Texas has partnered with Queer the Vote to mobilize the LGBTQ community with a Pledge to Vote in upcoming elections.

The League of Women Voters is a national nonpartisan organization that encourages “informed and active participation in government” for all voters. There are state chapters, including the League of Women Voters of Texas.

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) has established the REV UP (“Register, Educate, Vote, Use your Power!”) network that works to advance the disability vote. There is a Texas REV UP coalition that serves Texans with disabilities. The National Association of the Deaf provides an ASL Voter Hotline for those who would like information about voting in American Sign Language. The National Federation of the Blind provides voting resources for Blind and Visually Impaired Americans.

Founded in 1990, Rock the Vote is a leading nonpartisan nonprofit “dedicated to building the political power of young people” that partners with many of the previously mentioned organizations and initiatives and others across the nation to encourage every generation to overcome obstacles of representation and disenfranchisement.
