Benny Agosto Jr. and Nikki Agosto donated $3 million to South Texas College of Law Houston, or STCL, to establish a diversity center at the law school. Only one donation to the law school has exceeded this amount.
In recognition of the donation, the new center will be named the Benny Agosto Jr. Diversity Center at South Texas College of Law Houston.

Funding will support the remodeling of a space for the center in the law school’s current building, the hiring of a program leader, scholarships to support diversity, relevant diversity programming, and the expansion of the Hispanic Journal of Law and Policy, established at STCL Houston by Agosto in 2016.
“The legal field is sorely lacking minorities, and I have been proactive in my career to try to change that—starting in the law firm where I work,” Benny Agosto Jr. said in a press release. “If we don’t do anything different, 30 years from now the legal profession will look the same as it does today. I am personally working to change things, and I believe South Texas College of Law Houston is playing a key role in this transformation. It is one of the most diverse law schools in the nation, and I value the school’s mission and emphasis on ensuring all students have access to an exceptional legal education.”
Agosto, a 1995 graduate of STCL Houston, is managing partner in Abraham Watkins Nichols Agosto Aziz and Stogner in Houston and serves on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. He is certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
