Fears Nachawati Takes On Manufacturers of Dangerous Baby Formula

A number of recent lawsuits surrounding a potentially fatal disease known as necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) have been filed against Abbott Laboratories Inc. and Mead Johnson & Company, two of the largest manufacturers of baby formula in the world. NEC is a gastrointestinal disease most commonly seen in premature babies that causes an inflammation of the intestinal tissue. This inflammation can create a rupture in the tissue through which bacteria can leak into the bloodstream.

As of December 2021, more than 30 lawsuits had been brought against both companies on behalf of more than 80 infants. While many of these lawsuits claim studies have shown a link between NEC and baby formulas such as those made by Abbott and Mead Johnson, the companies have made no attempt to change their product, nor have they signaled any intention of doing so.

If your infant has developed necrotizing enterocolitis as a result of ingesting a cow milk-based formula such as Similac or Enfamil EnfaCare, we want to help. Contact us at fnlawfirm.com today.
